Cyclist Friendly Camping in Kent

One of the best ways to explore the great British countryside is by bike. It’s an environmentally friendly, affordable, and accessible way to see some of the most breath taking, natural sights around. That’s why at Fallow Fields, we’re proud to provide cyclist friendly camping.

If you want to get away with the family and explore the great outdoors by bike, then we have you covered. You can organise your camping and cycling trip at both our Selson Farm and Lathe Barn campsites. We provide a variety of different camping options across both sites, with space for BYO tents, small campervans, trailer tents and even luxury furnished bell tents at Selson Farm.

Our Lathe Barn site welcome BYO tent campers, plus we have unfurnished bell tents for those with their own kit, and fully furnished bells if you’re looking for all out simplicity, allowing you to save room in the car for your bikes, as all your equipment will be waiting for you onsite.

Cycling on your camping trip provides a whole wealth of benefits for the whole family. For starters, it gives you the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air. There’s a huge synergy between camping and cycling and it’s all about spending your time in the fresh air. Leave the car at the campsite, explore the countryside, and prepare to feel liberated and invigorated. Plus, it’s so much friendlier to the environment and you won’t have to worry about getting stuck in traffic jams.

It can also be an affordable option for those family trips. There’s no need to factor in fuel costs, parking or toll fees. A day out spent cycling together around the stunning Kent countryside will be a lot easier on your wallet. That means you can even treat yourself to an ice cream or tasty snack at our well-stocked onsite camp shop when you return back to Fallow Fields after a fun day out.

Kids are welcome to bring their bikes to Lathe Barn and Selson Farm sites, we just ask that you respect your fellow campers, as always!

If you fancy taking a spin further afield, please be aware that the exit from the campsite at Selson Farm is onto a country lane, with no cycle lane or route.  Only competent cyclists should set off from the campsite.
East Kent is emerging as an exciting place to visit if you want cycling friendly camping. You can try a spot of off-road cycling in Betteshanger Park or bike your way to the beautiful sands of Joss Bay. Why not organise a trip to see the many art galleries and boutiques in the new arts quarter of Margate, Ramsgate and Folkestone?

There’s the picturesque and historic towns of Sandwich, Walmer and Deal just a short ride away, waiting to be discovered by bike. The North Kent Coast also offers a mixture of long, sandy beaches alongside vibrant seaside towns. Oh, and there’s a vineyard only half a mile down the road from Fallow Fields too.

Stay with us at Lathe Barn and you find yourself directly on the Sustrans Route 2 national cycle network!  One direction takes you to beautiful Sandgate or funky Folkestone, the other way heads towards Dymchurch, Dungeness and Camber Sands.
