Campsite near Sunny Sands

It’s hard to think of a beach with a more fitting name than Sunny Sands. This beautiful sandy stretch is a popular spot for family days out. Better still, with our campsite being around half an hour’s drive away, you can enjoy Sunny Sands camping with Fallow Fields. That’s alongside our stunning location, modern onsite facilities and exciting family-friendly activities, of course.

Situated in the town of Folkestone and on the east end of the harbour, it benefits from a fantastic location, surrounded by coastal views and brilliant attractions. Plus, with parking available and good public transport links, it’s easy to get to too. Other facilities include toilets and nearby beach shops, pubs and cafes, so you can truly make a day of it. Tuck into tasty fish and chips, treat yourself to an ice cream or buy a brand new bucket and spade to get creative on the golden sands.

Speaking of sandcastles, you can appreciate some sandy works of art right here, with Sunny Sands serving as host to the annual Folkestone sandcastle competition. If you prefer artistic creations that won’t get washed away with the tide, you can also check out the town’s mermaid statue which overlooks the shore. It’s the ideal spot for a special family holiday snap.

The water quality at Sunny Sands beach is exceptional, making it one of the most picturesque spots on the Kent coast. You can take a dip in the shimmering waves, with a seasonal lifeguard service at the beach running between 10am to 4pm on the weekends through April to September. Or you can simply unwind on the soft sand and catch some rays.

If you’ve had your fill of stunning sand and sea, you can stroll over to the neighbouring Lower Leas Coastal parks. Here you’ll find a fantastic free play area, with an adventure playground for the kids, complete with rope slide and pirate ship. There’s also brilliant gardens and pine avenues, with a wild zone for tranquil recreation and live performances taking place at the amphitheatre in the summer months.

With an amazing array of things to see, do and experience, it’s no wonder that Sunny Sands is so popular. It’s also one of the closest beach locations to London, which means it can get busy with visitors during the warmer months.
