FAQs for Your Fallow Fields Stay

Here are some answers to commonly asked questions to help you prepare for your stay at our Selson Farm and Lathe Barn campsites:

How can I stay at Fallow Fields?

We open between the 3rd of May and 14th of September at both Selson Farm, Sandwich and Lathe Barn, Dymchurch.

At Selson Farm, we’re happy to accept tents, trailer tents and small campervans (e.g. small retro or modern VWs, bongos, etc.). We cannot accept caravans or motorhomes. We have grass pitches for tents and campervans but we do not have electric pitches. You can also stay in one of our bell tents.

At Lathe Barn, we can only accept BYO tents or trailer tents on non-electric grass pitches. Campervans and caravans are not accepted at Lathe Barn due to planning restrictions. We also have several bell tent options.

Unfortunately we cannot accept under 18's camping on their own, but do accept school and DofE groups, find out more information here.

Can I book as a group?

We welcome, respectful groups of up to 5 pitches and/or bell tents to camp together. Unfortunately, we cannot accept stag or hen parties, or single sex adult only groups.

Due to popular demand on a few special weekends a season we will accommodate larger groups, see details on our group camping page. All other dates our restriction of 5 pitches applies.

Where possible, we will keep bell tents together and BYO campers are welcome to pitch next to bell tents (except in the Woodland Camping Field at Lathe Barn - not accessible by car). You can see full details on group camping here.

Will the campsite be noisy?

We ask that noise is kept to a minimum in the evening, with quiet time at our Lathe Barn and Selson Farm campsites running from 10.30pm until 7.30am. We also do not allow music, even from a mobile phone. A classical instrument like a guitar is fine until 10.30pm. Campers making excessive noise will be asked to leave. This is so we can ensure everyone at Fallow Fields has an enjoyable stay. For full details, see our T&Cs.

Can I book tents, bells and campervan pitches together?

We pre-allocate pitches and we do not segregate BYO tent pitches and bell tents (except within the Woodland Bell tent Camping field at Lathe Barn). That means you can camp and glamp together with your loved ones.

If you wish to camp with friends, please advise us while you’re making your booking. We cannot guarantee exact pitches unless pre-selected on booking, but will do our best to keep groups together where we can. You can see our campsite maps on our campsite pages.

Bell tents - what's included?

Fully furnished bell tents include a carpet, beds, bedding and equipment for up to four people, including a picnic bench and firepit. You can see a list on our Luxury bell tent page.

Part Furnished bells include a carpet, beds and picnic bench. You need to bring your own bedding and other camping equipment

Part Furnished and Unfurnished bells are pet friendly.

We CANNOT accommodate pets in furnished bell tents.

We can accommodate additional guests for an additional charge but they must be booked prior to arrival. Bell tents are not equipped with electric but furnished bell tents have a lantern included.

Are dogs allowed at Fallow Fields?

We welcome well-behaved dogs at both our Selson Farm and Lathe Barn campsites free of charge and we have pet friendly glamping options available if you don't want to bring your own tent or campervan (Please note, dogs are not permitted with furnished bell tent bookings.). We do ask you to clean up after your dog and to keep them on a lead at all times.

There are lots of local walks and dog-friendly beaches nearby. You can find out more about them on our Things to Do page.

What is the atmosphere like at Fallow Fields?

We are a family-focused campsite with lots of things to do for children. These include free games in the communal areas and Retreat tent, as well as activities at the weekends and school holidays. Children are encouraged to roam free within the campsite, but we do ask that they are supervised and are respectful of other campers.

Do you offer refunds?

We cannot offer refunds for cancellations, no shows or early departures. Where possible and subject to availability, we will amend bookings to alternative dates for a £15 administration fee. See our T&Cs for full details.

Can I park my car onsite?

Both our Selson Farm and Lathe Barn campsites are car-free sites. Therefore, once you have unpacked, your car must be moved to our onsite car park by 9pm. This is conveniently located next to the camping field. One car per pitch is included in the booking. Additional cars are charged for as there is limited availability.

In wet weather conditions, you may not be able to drive to your pitch, as this may make the ground muddy for other campers or get stuck. When this is the case, wheelbarrows and staff will be on hand to help.

What facilities are there at Fallow Fields?

We have a small permanent toilet block with two toilets in the main camping field and a newly built toilet and shower block at Lathe Barn, this includes a disabled access toilet and shower. At Selson Farm, we have Male and Female Toilets and showers, with a family bathroom available for anyone needing easy access. At both locations there are sinks for washing/brushing teeth and a pot-wash area with hot water for dishes. All wash areas and toilets are cleaned two to three times a day and restocked with toilet roll and soap.

Are campfires and BBQs allowed at Fallow Fields?

Yes, campers are allowed to have campfires and BBQs but these must be raised off the ground in a fire pit or BBQ stand. We do not allow disposable BBQs on site for safety reasons. You can hire a firepit and grill from us if you do not have your own. Furnished bell tents have a firepit included.

Please note, campers are only permitted to burn wood supplied by Fallow Fields. This can be purchased online or from the campshop. This is due to our planning conditions, meaning we must be able to guarantee only seasoned logs are burned. You are not permitted to collect wood from the farm or surrounding woodland.  We only charge the recommended retail price for our nets of wood.

When should I arrive?

Our arrival time runs between 2pm and 8pm for BYO pitches, and 3pm to 8pm for bell tent campers. We cannot accept early arrivals. If you are going to be later than 9pm you will not be allowed to drive to your pitch for the safety of other campers, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you. Our gate to the camping field shuts at 10pm so we cannot accept any arrivals after this time, but you will be able to enter and leave the car park out of hours.

When should I depart?

We ask guests to depart on the last day of their booking before 11am. Please clear your pitch of any rubbish on your departure.

Is there a shop onsite?

Yes, we have a well-stocked onsite shop. Here you can purchase lots of items, including camping essentials, local produce, fresh coffee and ice block freezer. Mobile charging facilities are also available here free of charge. You can find out more on our camp shop page.
